Mr. Oppenheimer is a successful veteran of the mortgage industry and is currently Chief Financial Officer and Co-Founder of Gate House Strategies, LLC, a Washington, DC area-based advisory firm focused within the Financial Services, Mortgage Lending/Servicing, Community Development, and Affordable Housing sectors.

He served as Senior Advisor to the FHA Commissioner.  As Senior Advisor, Oppenheimer was responsible for advising the FHA Commissioner on updating FHA’s Single Family servicing policies to support sustainable homeownership, aligning FHA with industry best practices for Single Family servicing, and supporting FHA’s technology modernization initiative, FHA Catalyst.  Oppenheimer advised the FHA Commissioner on FHA’s servicing policy response to COVID-19.

Prior to joining Housing and Urban Development, Oppenheimer was with Fannie Mae For31 years.  While at Fannie Mae, Oppenheimer was Senior Vice President of Credit Default Operations where he was responsible for loss mitigation operations, Mortgage Insurance collections, claims processing, and servicer compliance with Fannie Mae’s default operations policies.  Oppenheimer was Senior Vice President of Fannie Mae’s National Underwriting Center where he was responsible for ensuring lenders’ compliance with Fannie Mae’s underwriting policies.  Oppenheimer was Vice President of Fannie Mae’s Master Servicing Operation where he was responsible for managing all servicer reporting and remitting activities on Fannie Mae’s $3 trillion Single Family book-of-business and ensuring servicers’ compliance with Fannie Mae’s investor reporting policies.  Oppenheimer was Director of Fannie Mae’s National Property Disposition operations where he was responsible for centralizing Fannie Mae’s REO operations activities and managing the day-to-day REO operations function for over 15,000 property acquisitions per year. 

Oppenheimer holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Pennsylvania State University.
