Liz Scholz has executive experience as a financial services regulator, trade group executive, enterprise risk executive, advisor to senior industry leaders, and business leader. She also worked with early-stage startup firms as an executive and investor.
Liz served as an executive with the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) for twelve years with responsibilities that included policy engagement, Board monitoring, examination, and supervisory oversight of the business activities of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two Fortune 100 firms with over $18 billion in annual profits. During this period, she also served as Chief of Staff to the Fannie Mae Board Chair.
Liz also led the design and implementation of the country’s Uniform Mortgage-Backed Security (UMBS) which successfully issued over $6 trillion in UMBS since the launch in June 2019. In addition, she was responsible for oversight of the Common Securitization Solutions (CSS) subsidiary which runs the UMBS technology platform.
Liz has extensive technical experience in developing and launching financial service products, programs, and housing policies. Her career spanned mortgage finance, consulting, lending, and servicing where she crafted strategies for product design, positioning, and communications. Liz also served as a public spokesperson and public speaker at various points throughout her career.
Her leadership skills include the ability to lead respectfully, constructively, and analytically at all levels with a proven track record of high-quality results on large and complex initiatives that require the ability to work across a diverse set of industry stakeholders with different agendas.
She holds an MBA from American University, completed predoctoral work in Artificial Intelligence, and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Liz earned several executive education certifications from the Wharton School of Business, Harvard Business School, and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
